To many titled as the ‘stalker application’ but to others a great tool for connecting and marketing. Your mobile phone can be quickly turned into a GPS locator and keep you geographically connected via FourSquare with friends, family, favorite places, & more. If you aren’t familiar with this particular online tool than you’re not a social media person most likely. That’s OK! I forgive you this one time but get with the program (j/k). FourSquare offers numerous opportunities both for personal and business reasons and here’s why.
“You can visit our website online. It has lots of cool stuff on there and you can place your order directly on there. You can also pay for your order online.” Does this sound familiar? It’s one of the most common statements made by a business or an employee of one directed towards a consumer such as yourself. In general nowadays if you walk into a retail store to make a purchase in some form or another you’ll find out about that particular business website. Usually in response to a certain inquiry about a product or service that’s currently unavailable in-store (typical Wal Mart stuff j/k). Now you’re all excited that you’ll get to do some comparison shopping before even pulling the trigger.
Greetings to all “geeks” alike across the Globe reading this post at this very minute. Recently I stumbled upon a really cool feature effect that seems to be heating up the search index in Google and wanted to share the wealth with all others. Due to its simplicity and elegance it makes an essential addition to just about any website. Obviously WordPress is no exception to that and I’m here to show you how you can install, configure, & use a modal dialog box for your images or anything else for that matter on your WordPress Blog.
The popularity of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, & Google Buzz has really taken over the web. There are now more internet users checking in on daily basis into social media platforms than ever before. With that in mind the demand for content and its circulation has never been greater. When building or re-building your next website it should be your primary concern to choose the right content management system that will work for your business as well as managing the content itself. A current project that I’m involved in is being built in Joomla 1.5.20 One of the features that my client requested was to have an advanced comment system that includes enhanced functionality of comment contributions. Some of the features that the client requested were spam blocking, sharing, multi-platform integration, and more. Joomla has a ton of components and plugins out there that you can choose from although there was one in particular that caught my eye and I wanted to share it with you.
Even though I’m a hardcore Joomla fan and yet to be disappointed by this content management system I have to admit that WordPress rules all other blogging platforms. Ok, that’s off my chest now! One of the things that you should be concerned about when serious about blogging is creating ongoing backups of your WordPress installation. In particular if you’re using WordPress for business then this should be a requirement. There are several plugins out there for WordPress that will let you create backups although there’s one in particular that every WordPress blogger should have.

Recently I stumbled across an issue that simply drove me nuts and up against the wall trying to figure out a solution for it. After about 3 hours worth of research, some friendly trial & error, and of course use of previous skills and experience I was finally able to to resolve the problem. If you’re like the thousands perhaps millions of people out there struggling with the profile picture upload on your fan page of Facebook then you’ve found the right place for a resolution. It appears that the image formatting of certain images that are being used as a profile picture on Facebook are being rejected by the system.
