Underground Adventures: Crystal City Mine Escape

This past weekend winds blew us away to Crystal City Underground. A former sand mine located outside of Crystal City, MO which is approximately 35-45 minutes from St. Louis, MO on HWY 55. An impressive sight for exploration, curiosity, and hidden potential. Consider it a quick getaway into the unknown and a flashback into history.

Day 5 of 28: Operation Detoxication In Full Swing

Onto day five of Operation Detoxication. WooHoo! I’m ecstatic as things expedite and gaining momentum with this endeavor. For those of you unaware of the situation I’m referring to my prior commitment regarding curbing of alcohol that I made five days ago. Call it a short-term experiment I decided to take upon myself to see how persistent I can truly be with such endeavors. (more…)

Day 4 of 28: Detoxication Continuation in Full Force

Four days ago I announced my 28 day detoxication challenge in lieu to Easter. The goal is to refrain from any sort of alcohol consumption. After visiting church this past weekend and listening to our pastor talk about upcoming Easter weekend it really made me realize that I should put myself through a simple test. Undeniably, I’m a drinker but not an excessive one. Beer or a glass of Merlot tends to hit home with me on evenings or dinner outings. (more…)

Day 3 of 28: Detoxication Update

On March 9, 2015 I made an official announcement regarding my 28 day detoxication exercise stating that starting on March 8, 2015 I will be curbing alcohol leading up to Easter. A commitment that I made to myself with intent of testing out my level of persistence. If anything, even deserting alcohol temporarily was foreseen to be quite the challenge itself.

28 Days of Detoxication

The race is on! This past Saturday, after having visited the 5:00 o’clock evening service, I realized that it’s time to part with something temporarily. As we move closer to Easter time, I decided that it may be a good test of faith and diligence in seeing how consistent I can truly be. Due to recent chain of events and my recent venturing out as solopreneur have really invigorated me to the point that I decided to curb the one thing that I enjoy – alcohol. (more…)

How 2014 Practically Changed My Life to a Whole New Level

Last year was literally a giant roller coaster ride. So much happened in such little time that I practically got dizzy. Reflecting back on the year though and acknowledging all the highs and lows really made me think about one thing. I wouldn’t change a single detail about this past year, not a tiny bit, nada. Everything happened for a reason. A reason that I think I’m slowly beginning to understand. (more…)

On This Thanksgiving, I’m Thankful For…

The last couple of years have been extremely interesting for me. After a major roller coaster ended for me back in 2010, it seemed like the winds turned in a completely different direction. It was a difficult time full of many challenges and plenty of uncertainty. Career wise, I was doubtful whether or not I had reached my fullest potential, fearing what may arrive ahead, and most importantly the direction I was meant to veer towards. In a sense, I felt lost with a lack of direction. Frustration and anger were the two most common encounters on daily basis that seemed to hunt me endlessly. (more…)

Dress the Part for a Knockout Business Impression

Do the clothes make the man or man makes the clothes? Quite a cliche saying, isn’t it? It’s quite interesting how the little things in the business world make the largest difference. While business casual or casual dress code in some work environments has become the norm, it does not necessarily classify it as a standard. Many business professionals have more or less adapted the inheritance of business casual or casual dress code in their respective work environments. (more…)

Finding a Suitable Work & Life Counterbalance

Work and personal life are difficult to balance especially for those with kids at home. Personally, over the last few years I’ve discovered an ongoing challenge in ability to counterbalance both areas efficiently. Fortunately, no kids at home (yet) so the work and life counterbalance does not seem impossible to manage. As my career grows and I take on more initiatives I’ve strived for discovering ways to assist with the workload where I’m able to dedicate enough time to work and family. For the record, family comes first preceded by everything else. Perfection seems nearly impossible and something I’m quite aware of but a reasonable counterbalance is definitely achievable.  (more…)

Are You a Couch Potato? Common Work-from-Home Spots

If you work from home, which technically has become the norm these days, chances are you’re striving for suitable work areas. In general, those of us that work from home are always seeking out a comfortable spot around the house that provides a suitable working environment. Finding the most comfortable area in your home though can be more challenging than you’d hope. In most cases, we tend to resort to the living room and turn into a couch potato eventually (guilty as charged). Working at a desk may be your forte but statistics show that those of us working from home tend to seek out a comfortable location to get work done. Sometimes, a bit too comforting perhaps. (more…)
